Master Product Designer
Dan is the real deal. The right degrees, credentials, experience, attitude. A Virginia Tech Mechanical Engineer with a long list of credentials to accompany his years of industry experience in fields including the medical, robotics, and defense sectors. He has designed assemblies with hundreds of unique parts and moving components that have gone high into the earth's atmosphere, deep below the oceans and everything in between.
Our Why
We embrace the difficult challenge of making ideas real so that we can bring value to others.
We’re a special team of expert tool builders. We design machines, and hardware products—all tools, still. You’re working on a tool, a better mousetrap. You're solving a problem with the potential to create real-world value.
The hard truth is that most solutions, even the best, never scratch their potential. The difference between an idea or prototype and the vast systems needed to release and support it is a chasm so wide that most get swallowed whole. Having our experience and expertise on your side doesn't change the obstacles ahead—it just makes it possible.
We embrace the difficult challenge of making ideas real so that we can bring value to others. That’s our why.
ORTHOGONAL THINKING + DIGITAL MANUFACTURING + SKILLED TENACITY
The traditional approach to product design is a lumbering dinosaur—accepting gross inefficiency as the norm and relying on brute force, bloated timelines, and endless resources. We take a radically different approach, delivering game-changing results at a fraction of the cost.
3D Modeling
Computer-Aided Design / Computer-Aided Engineering is the tool for product design, all others pale in comparison. They are actually a whole ecosystem of tools and sub tools. Novice skill can be attained quickly but mastery takes decades. With well over 10,000 hours under our belt, dozens of certifications and a mindset of continual learning we go way beyond mere proficiency. 3D modeling is virtual prototyping and we harness that power for next level communication, analysis, speed and overall results in a way that few can.
Design
Customers expect well designed, high quality and beautiful products. Delivering on that expectation creates a virtuous cycle where value and trust are repaid through generosity and loyalty. Design is a meta skill based on dozens of foundational honed skills and talents. The household brands that are synonymous with design embrace talent and realize it is a precious resource, not a commodity. Design separates success from failure and ordinary from world-class, it also happens to be what we do best.
Manufacturing
Successful manufacturing is achieved through diverse partnerships that leverage expertise and equipment. The nature of supply chain logistics is to be susceptible to externalities and human factors, even for the most modern of operations. Balancing the impacts of the unforeseeable to consistently deliver quality is a rare value proposition. To do this takes tactful strategy, artistic relationship building and deep knowledge.
Prototyping
Prototyping mastery blends ingenuity and modern craftsmanship. We leverage the latest in digital additive and subtractive manufacturing. We also utilize traditional, manual and time tested methods, whatever best suits the need. Design optimization is a process of iterative refinement, it is also a race against time and resources and prototyping excellence is the engine of success.
